Keys Animal Care Center would like to express our sincerest congratulations to our April 2022 Patient of the Month, Winnie McNamara!! Winnie is such a great dog and fantastic patient. Below are some photos of Winnie and some information about her, as written by her amazing mom:
"Winnie is a Siberian Husky/Springer Spaniel mix. Winnie is a fun-loving, very social dog that loves being the center of attention and was adopted by us when she was 2 months old. When she was 3 years old, she passed the “Canine Good Citizen” test sponsored by the American Kennel Club, which enabled her to join the Pet Partners Therapy Animal Program. In this program, Winnie and her owner served as an animal therapy team to help children with speech or reading disabilities by having them read to Winnie to build confidence and give kids a chance to practice their oral language skills without being judged. She was also a therapy dog for the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in NYC where she was able to visit children with cancer to provide them comfort while being supervised by her owner. Winnie moved from NYC to the Florida Keys in 2017 where she now loves to take rides on the boat, play on the beach, and lie in the sun. Although she will be turning 12 years old in July, she has the energy (and mindset) of a young dog and we have Dr. Humphries and her amazing team at the Keys Animal Care Center to thank for that. Without all of the great care and attention to detail provided by Dr. Humphries and team members, which enabled us to put Winnie on a drug regimen to treat her gallbladder/liver issues, I don’t think Winnie would have survived. We are forever grateful for such keen insight!"
Congratulations again, and a huge thank you to the McNamara family for trusting us to care for this special girl.
